The French leader Charles de Gaulle and the German chancellor, Konrad Adenauer. The American CIA prevented a French-German alliance in 1963 that would have sought peace with the Russians and ended US domination of Europe.

As to why the Germans are committing such blatant follies, the entire German political system is 100% CIA.

In 1963, Charles de Gaulle of France, tired of American domination, reached out to the equally exasperated German chancellor Konrad Adenauer for a Franco-German friendship treaty.

It was a great success. De Gaulle toured Germany, gave speeches in German (yes!), and all seemed well.

But his goal was much bigger, for 1) both France and Germany to leave NATO and 2) make peace with the Russians. (De Gaulle, btw, always referred to the Soviets as “the Russians,” and predicted that Russia would itself get rid of communism.)

De Gaulle was also a germanophile, btw, and highly admired, military man that he was, the positive things about Germany, such as honesty, hard work, discipline, attention to detail, etc.

I read one of his books on WWII, written in a fine style, and he spoke with unconcealed admiration of how “the Wehrmacht swept aside the armies of France in six weeks.”

He also stunned his Soviet-Russians by praising the Germans during a visit to Stalingrad (Volgograd)!

Anyway, the German Adenauer, who was the founding father in a way of West Germany, was quite on board with de Gaulle on escaping American domination, on the sheer power and viability of a Franco-German duocracy, and on the need to reach out to “the Russians” for peace and cooperation.

And guess what happened?

His own party, the Christian-Democratic Union, threatened to unseat him as chancellor — if he tried to do any of this, sensible though it was!

It goes back to five things:

1) hammering the Germans day and night with Holocaust guilt, so they will submit to America, the great democratic and moral superpower 😉 as soon as they begin to lecture Germany about “you Germans all applauded Hitler”….

2) deliberately making the German economy 40% dependent on EXPORTS

3) flooding the coal mines, and banning coal gasification (which was the main activity at Auschwitz, btw, the refining of coal into gasoline), making Germany also dependent on energy IMPORTS

Germany, mighty in business and science, but with an economy utterly dependent on imports and exports, and thus on the good will of foreigners

4) as the renegade German journalist Udo Ulfkotte wrote from his own personal experience as a onetime top reporter, controlling all the German media via ownership or advertising boycotts, and indoctrinating young reporters who wish to rise in their careers with the power and wonderfulness of the United States.
