I awoke this morning to find that for the third time, every single document and photo on my main computer had been holocausted by the ju. Using various means of hacking, including perhaps a special, tailor-made virus, he invaded illegally my personal property.
Norton, Symantec, McAfree, CA, etc. are anti-virus software programs designed to screen out generic viruses, not specialized bombs comparable, for example, to the bunker-buster bombs the British used in WWII to destroy certain German dams or even the thick-steeled German battleship Tirpitz in a fjord in Norway.

(I became a bit of an expert on German battleships in 2006 while on a trip to Europe to speak in Spanish, German and French to groups of comrades. What made the German Schlachtschiffe terrifying is that they had tremendous speed, incredible Krupp steel armor that no torpedo could penetrate, and guns whose range and ACCURACY (assisted by German radar) was so long — up to 25 miles — that they could destroy a smaller ship long before it could get in range to fire on the German Schlachtschiff. The battleship Bismarck, built in Hamburg, cost $200 million in 1940s money, about one billion dollars today. Such battleships meant that the Allies could not invade Scandinavia, cutting off Swedish supplies of iron ore to make German steel, and they could not prevent German resupply of its valliant troops fighting in northern Russia, the Baltic and especially in Finland. Hitler was absolutely right to not “use” his battleships except as a latent threat. The one time he let himself be convinced to do otherwise, by Admiral Raeder, to send his battleships out into the open ocean, he lost the magnificent Bismarck (albeit after it first had sunk the magnificent British battleship, “the Mighty Hood”).

Chevrolet is a nice French-American name, like Cadillac, btw. The French courageously explored Michigan long before the British, and the pronunciation of the “ch” in Michigan as “sh” is a legacy French pronunciation, not English, as found also in the name “Chicago” (Sh-icago). The word “chic,” meaning classy style, is French and is of course pronounced “sheek”.
The whole American Midwest and Northwest were explored by intrepid French trappers and missionaries, leaving behind names such as Detroit (Michigan). (A détroit is a strait, i.e. a narrow point in a river. They city of Detroit is right across the indeed narrow river from Windsor, Ontario, Canada.) Other French place names are Des Moines (Iowa), meaning “[place] of the monks”; Marquette (Wisconsin), St. Louis (Missouri), Cheyenne (Wyoming), Coeur d’Alene (Idaho) and the name of the state of Illinois.
I like the car’s model name, which reminds me of the greatest all-white band of warriors since Leonidas and his 300 Spartans.
And I love the Chevrolet slogan “The Heartbeat of America”…. ‘Culture does not justify cruelty’
It is not surprising that there are conflicting views about the Zulu rite of slaughtering a bull as part of the Ukweshwama, or First Fruits festival. However, although people might have a right to their opinions, it does not follow that their opinions are correct.
Indeed, when two opinions are inconsistent with one another, at least one of them must be false. Moreover, a right to an opinion is not in itself a right to act on it.
This applies equally both to those whose opinion is that they should interfere with others and to those whose opinion is that they should be immune from interference.
Therefore the crucial question in the debate about the First Fruits festival is: Who is right? Is the proposed ritual slaughter of a bull morally acceptable? Is it the sort of ritual that should be legally protected?
The ceremony is performed by young males who are entering manhood. They take hold of the bull and force it to the ground. They rip out its tongue, force handfuls of earth into its mouth, gouge out its eyes and mutilate its genitals, among other things. The bull eventually dies, but not before it has endured considerable suffering. (Claims that the bull does not feel pain as a result of the herbs fed to it are entirely implausible.)
Opponents of this rite argue that treating the bull in this way is cruel, on account of the suffering that the bull experiences, and that cruelty is wrong. Defenders of the practice respond that this rite forms part of Zulu culture and that all people have a right to practise their culture.
To evaluate this cultural defence of the ritual, it is helpful to spell out the argument’s premises and conclusion in a general way. In other words, the defence of the practice takes the following form:
* Some action, X, is a cultural practice.
* People are entitled to practise their culture.
* Therefore, X may be performed.
Once we see the form of this argument – what we might call the “culture argument” – its weakness is readily apparent.
We see that the argument can be used to defend not only this particular bull-killing rite, but any other cultural practice too.
If X is the practice of “beating one’s wife” or “excising one’s daughter’s genitals” or “sacrificing a human”, the culture argument concludes that the practice may be performed. But even those who think that killing the bull is permissible would surely deny that these other cultural practices are acceptable.
If that is the case, then it must be seen that X cannot be justifiable merely because it is a cultural practice. In other words, the (unqualified) second premise of the argument is false. The culture argument, therefore, is an extremely poor argument in defence of the bull-killing ritual, or any other practice.

The promotional “trailers” are already buzzing on the upcoming Discovery Channel show, next Wednesday at 10 PM — FEBRUARY 24TH, which is entitled “Hitler’s Mummies”. I am featured even in the trailer, but not as a mummy, instead, holding a pistol (as I will always do when six strange men, four of them non-white, enter my home………………THE FEDS CONSTANTLY INTRODUCE THEMSELVES INTO HOMES POSING AS SOMEONE ELSE.) Oliver Steeds let out a gasp when I did so, a black, cocked, laser-sighted Walther, and in the trailer Ollie gushes: “We will meet a real Aryan!”

1 – The Tide Has Changed – Gilad Atzmon
London is ‘angry’ over the use of stolen identities by the Dubai assassins and points its finger at the Jewish state and its notorious Mossad espionage agency. The Israeli ambassador to Britain, Ron Prosor, was summoned yesterday by the foreign minister to “share information”. In practice Britain has stopped short of accusing Israel of involvement in the scandalous assassination, however to signal its displeasure the Foreign Office ignored an Israeli plea to keep the summons secret. “Relations were in the freezer before this. They are in the deep freeze now,” a British official told the Guardian.
The British anger at Israel would be a positive signal in the right direction if we were not aware of British Foreign Secretary David Miliband investing enormous efforts trying to amend Britain’s ethical stand just to appease Tzipi Livni, Ehud Barak and other Israeli leaders. The British Foreign Ministry’s reaction could almost be deemed a revelation, were we able to forget that just five weeks before Israel launched its lethal criminal attack against Gaza, David Miliband visited Sderot, an Israeli town on the Gaza border to offer his support. “No country can accept constant bombardment of its citizens”, Miliband told the people of Sderot. He then continued “Israel should, above all, seek to protect its own citizens”. It was that foolish statement by Britain’s Foreign Secretary that made us all complicit in Israel’s flattening of Gaza. Bearing these facts in mind, it is rather unlikely that the Israeli Ambassador to Britain was sweating while ‘sharing information’ with the chief aid to the British Foreign Secretary.
In the last few days Robert Fisk reported from the Middle East that, in Dubai there is not much doubt about Britain being involved in the Israeli blunder. “The British passports are real”, says one of Fisk’s sources in Dubai. “They are hologram pictures with the biometric stamp. They are not forged or fake. The names were really there. If you can fake a hologram or biometric stamp, what does this mean?” The truth better be exposed here. As if this is not enough, the Israeli Ynet reports today (quoting the Daily Mail) that Israel informed the British government that its agents were going to carry out an ‘overseas operation’ using forged British passports. “It wasn’t a request for permission, but rather a courtesy call”.
If Britain was collaborating with Israel at any level, we better know it all, we better find out whether it was a person or a body within the Government or the intelligence, or just an ordinary sayan* in the Home Office or any other government office. If there was British collaboration, we better identify what it was exactly, who decided to serve Israeli murderous interests in our midst. We also better find out who in Britain decided to put British interests and British security in the Arab world at enormous risk.
In the Guardian yesterday Seumas Milne didn’t save his words either. “Instead of setting off a diplomatic backlash, the British government sat on its hands for almost a week after it was reportedly first passed details of the passport abuse. And while the Foreign Office finally summoned the Israeli ambassador to ‘share information’, rather than to protest, Gordon Brown could yesterday only promise a ‘full investigation’”.
The truth of the matter is tragic. The British political system is paralysed by the Israeli Lobby. Like in the USA, British national interests are sacrificed for the sake of dirty Zionist cash. If Britain wants to liberate itself from the Zionist grip and have any prospect of a future, it must move fast and clean the entire list of Zionist infiltrators from its political ranks, Government offices and strategic positions. I am not talking here about Jews. By no means do I mention ethnicity or race. I am talking here about a political and ideological affiliation. Considering Zionism is a murderous, racist, expansionist ideology, it is natural to stress that people who are affiliated with Israel and Zionism must be removed immediately from any political, government, military or strategic posts and so on.
As much as Britain would refrain from delegating decisions regarding its security with Arab, Chinese or Russian Nationalists, it should similarly treat Jewish nationalists with at least as much caution.
But here is the good news. Unlike the Zionised British political system, the British people and media are actually outraged. The Mossad’s blunder, as well as the British political impotence is overwhelmingly exposed in the British press. It is on the front page of every British daily paper, it is featured on every TV news item. There is no doubt today, the patience towards Israeli barbarism is clearly running out.
A few years back I was listening to a talk given by Dr. Mustafa Barghouti who pointed out that back in 1948 the world stood silent watching 750,000 Palestinian people being driven out of their land, their villages and their cities through an orchestrated ethnic cleansing coupled with many massacres. The world kept silent when Israel set its racist return laws to prevent the Palestinians from returning to their land. In 1967, the developed world wasn’t just silent, it actually praised the Israeli expansionist extravaganza. It applauded the IDF as it cleansed tens of thousands of Palestinians out of their historic land.
But then things started to change. In the Lebanon war of 1982 the world at large was still pretty silent as 30,000 Palestinian and Lebanese were butchered by the Israeli Air Force and the IDF. Yet it miraculously woke the Left up from its terminal snooze. Some activists started to realise that Palestinians and their cause were at the heart of the battle for a better world. During the first and the second Intifadas more and more people came to realise that Israel was the aggressor. In 2006 Israel again unleashed total havoc in Lebanon. This time Israel left 3,000 fatalities. However, the impact of these successive Israeli brutalities led to a drastic rise of anti Israeli feelings. It was in fact the 2nd Lebanon war (rather than Iraq) that was the catalyst for Tony Blair’s overdue political downfall. Blair paid an immediate political price for condoning the war. The Gaza massacre of 2009, left 1,400 dead Palestinians, most of them women and children, it left Gaza in total ruin, but as we know, it also led to the highest tide of anti Israeli resentments in every possible level in the media, in the street and even in the UN.
This week we learn about Israel’s latest murderous blunder. It assassinated a Hamas military leader. While in the past Israel would be praised for the courage of its assassin squads, those who are chasing the enemies of the Jews in far lands and beyond, the reaction this week is very different. The Jewish state is now regarded as a qualified pariah state. British media and people start to see through it. No one in the British press stood for Israel, no one tried to justify or advocate Israel’s acts. No one repeated the clichés about Hamas being a terrorist organisation. I guess that by now, people out there grasp that Hamas is Palestine’s democratically elected leadership. People also realise that Hamas is justified in pursuing a fully legitimate struggle for liberation.
As much as Israelis and their supporters try to tell us that the diplomatic backlash is fuelled by merely technical matters such as ‘identity theft’, reading the British press conveys a far deeper resentment to Israel, what it stands for and the way it operates.
For a while some of us have been talking about remote signs that the tide is changing. As it happens, we are waking up into a new reality. The tide has changed already. Israel has exhausted the last drops of moral integrity, as if it possessed such an integrity to start with. Britain and every Western country better move fast and identify the enemy within, those amongst us who support the Zionist project and convert us all into being complicit partners in Israel’s never ending sin.
*Sayan- a unique and important part of the Mossad’s operation. The Sayan (assistant) must be 100 percent Jewish. The Sayan supports the Israeli cause and assists the Mossad operation. 2 – Mossad local assistants or sayanim operating in western countries
‘By Way of Deception’ by Victor Ostrovsky (book pp. 86-9)
Alan’s lecture was followed by one on technical cooperation between agencies, in which we learned that the Mossad had the best capability of all for cracking locks. Various lock manufacturers in Great Britain, for example, would send new mechanisms to British intelligence for security testing; they in turn sent them on to the Mossad for analysis. The procedure was for our people to analyze it, figure out how to open it, then send it back with a report that it’s “impregnable.”
After lunch that day, Dov L. took the class out to the parking lot where seven white Ford Escorts were parked. In Israel, most Mossad, Shaback, and police cars are white, although the head of Mossad then drove a burgundy Lincoln Town Car.) The idea was to learn how to detect if you were being followed by a car. It’s something you practice again and again. There’s no such thing as you see in the movies or read in books about little hairs on the back of your neck standing up and telling you somebody is behind you. It’s something you learn only by practice, and more practice.
Each night when we went home, and each day when we left home for school, it was still our responsibility to make, sure we weren’t being followed.
The next day Ran S. delivered a lecture on the sayanim, a unique and important part of the Mossad’s operation. Sayanim ? assistants ? must be 100 percent Jewish. They live abroad, and though they are not Israeli citizens, many are reached through their relatives in Israel. An Israeli with a relative in England, for example, might be asked to write a letter saying the person bearing the letter represents an organization whose main goal is to help save Jewish people in the diaspora. Could the British relative help in any way?
There are thousands of sayanim around the world. In London alone, there are about 2,000 who are active, and another 5,000 on the list. They fulfill many different roles. A car sayan, for example, running a rental agency, could help the Mossad rent a car without having to complete the usual documentation. An apartment sayan would find accommodation without raising suspicions, a bank sayan could get you money if you needed it in the middle of the night, a doctor sayan would treat a bullet wound without reporting it to the police, and so on. The idea is to have a pool of people available when needed who can provide services but will keep quiet about them out of loyalty to the cause. They are paid only costs. Often the loyalty of sayanim is abused by katsas who take advantage of the available help for their own personal use. There is no way for the sayan to check this.
One thing you know for sure is that even if a Jewish person knows it is the Mossad, he might not agree to work with you, but he won’t turn you in. You have at your disposal a nonrisk recruitment system that actually gives you a pool of millions of Jewish people to tap from outside your own borders. It’s much easier to operate with what is available on the spot, and sayanim offer incredible practical support everywhere. But they are never put at risk nor are they privy to classified information.
Suppose during an operation a katsa suddenly had to come up with an electronics store as a cover. A call to a sayan in that business could bring 50 television sets, 200 VCRs, whatever was needed, from his warehouse to your building, and in next to no time, you’d have a store with $3 or $4 million worth of stock in it.
Since most Mossad activity is in Europe, it may be preferable to have a business address in North America. So, there are address sayanim and telephone sayanim. If a katsa has to give out an address or a phone number, he can use the sayan’s. And if the sayan gets a letter or a phone call, he will know immediately how to proceed. Some business sayanim have a bank of 20 operators answering phones, typing letters, faxing messages, all a front for the Mossad. The joke is that 60 percent of the business of those telephone answering companies in Europe comes from the Mossad. They’d fold otherwise.
The one problem with the system is that the Mossad does seem to care how devastating it could be to the status of the Jewish people in the Diaspora if it was known. The you get if you ask is: “So what’s the worst that could happen to those Jews?’ they’d all come to Israel – Great.”
Katsas in the stations are in charge of the sayanim, and most active sayanim will be visited by a katsa once every three months or so, which for the katsa usually means between two and four face-to-face meetings a day with sayanim, along with numerous telephone conversations. The system allows the Mossad to work with a skeleton staff. That’s why, for example, a KGB station would employ about 100 people, while a comparable Mossad station would need only six or seven.
People make the mistake of thinking the Mossad is at a disadvantage by not having stations in obvious target countries. The United States, for example, has a station in Moscow and the Russians have stations in Washington and New York. But Israel doesn’t have a station in Damascus. They don’t understand that the Mossad regards the whole world outside Israel as a target, including Europe and the United States. Most of the Arab countries don’t manufacture their own weapons. Most don’t have high-level military colleges, for example. If you want to recruit a Syrian diplomat, you don’t have to do that in Damascus. You can do it in Paris. If you want data on an Arab missile, you get that in Paris or London or the United States where it is made. You can get less information on Saudi Arabia from the Saudis themselves than you can from the Americans. What do the Saudis have? AWACs. Those are Boeing, and Boeing’s American. What do you need the Saudis for? The total recruitment in Saudi Arabia during my time with the Institute was one attache in the Japanese embassy. That was it.
And if you want to get to the senior officers, they study in England or the United States. Their pilots train in England, France, and the United States. Their commandos train in Italy and France. You can recruit them there. It’s easier and it’s less dangerous.
Ran S. also taught his class about “white agents,” individuals being recruited, either by covert or direct means, who may or may not know they’re working for Israel. They are always non?Arabs and usually more sophisticated in cal knowledge. The prejudice in Israel is that Arabs don’t understand technical things. It shows itself in jokes, like the one about the man selling Arab brains for $150 a pound and Jewish brains for $2 a pound. Asked why the Arab brain was so expensive, he says, “Because it’s hardly been used.” A widely held perception of Arabs in Israel.
White agents are usually less risky to deal with than “black,” or Arab, agents. For one thing, Arabs working abroad are very likely to be subjected to security by Arab intelligence and if they catch you working with one as a black agent, they’ll want to kill you. The worst that would happen to a Mossad katsa caught working with a white agent in France is deportation. But the white agent himself could be charged with treason. You do everything you can to protect him, but the main danger is to him. If you’re working with an Arab, both of you are in danger.
While our classes at the Academy went on, exercises outside with cars continued apace. We learned a technique called maulter, the unplanned use of a car in detecting, or, improvised following. If you have to drive in an area you’re unfamiliar with, and you have no preplanned route, there’s a series of procedures, turning left then right, moving, stopping, and so on,. to follow, mainly to eliminate coincidence and make certain whether or not you are being followed. We were also frequently reminded that we were not “bolted” to our cars. If we thought we were being followed, but couldn’t verify it completely, it might be wise to park, venture out on foot, and take it from there.
Another lecture, by a katsa named Rabitz, explained the Israel Station, or local station, which handles Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, and Turkey. Its katsas are called “hoppers” or “jumpers,” because they work out of Tel Aviv headquarters. They recruit by hopping back and forth for a few days at a time, to operate the agents and the sayanim. All these countries are dangerous to operate in because their governments tend to be pro-PLO.
The Israel station is not a popular assignment for katsas. During his lecture on the subject, Ran S. dumped on it. Ironically, he was later appointed its head.

Speaking in Jerusalem Dec. 20, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Daniel Kurtzer made the connection between the growth of the Islamic fundamentalist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad, and Israel’s promotion of the Islamic movement as a counter to the Palestinian nationalist movement. Kurtzer’s comments come very close to EIR’s own presentation of the evidence of Israel’s instrumental role in establishing Hamas, and its ongoing control of that organization.
Kurtzer said that the growth of the Islamic movement in the Palestinian territories in recent decades-“with the tacit support of Israel”-was “not totally unrelated” to the emergence of Hamas and Islamic Jihad and their terrorist attacks against Israel. Kurtzer explained that during the 1980s, when the Islamic movement began to flourish in the West Bank and Gaza, “Israel perceived it to be better to have people turning toward religion rather than toward a nationalistic cause [the Palestinian Liberation Organization-ed.].” It therefore did little to stop the flow of money to mosques and other religious institutions, rather than to schools.
According to the Dec. 21 Israeli daily Ha’aretz, Kurtzer made these extraordinary statements at a seminar on religion and politics sponsored by Oz V’Shalom-Netivot Shalom, a largely Anglo-American organization that promotes peace between Israelis and Palestinians. Rabbi Dr. Aharon Lichtenstein, the head of Har Etzion Yeshiva in Alon Shvut, who is an active advocate of a just regional peace, also spoke. Kurtzer said that as a result of the growth of Islam at the expense of education, there are now Palestinians who are “determined terrorists that use religious beliefs in a perverted way to appeal to the masses.”
Kurtzer said that cultural and religious interaction is potentially a way to “build bridges.” But instead, “the perverted use of religion in the region is today becoming one of the great challenges for the years ahead.” He said that there is no “inherent component” in Islam that advocates violence. But one of the five principles of Islam, jihad-resistance-“in classic religious associations connotes religious belief and fervor, not violence.” But extremists have distorted the meaning of jihad, so it now has a connotation of violence in the service of a religious purpose.
The Enemy of My Enemy Is My Friend
This statement is extraordinary given the fact that Kurtzer is a very senior diplomat, having held the post of Ambassador to Egypt just prior to going on to Tel Aviv. He is also an Orthodox Jew who is not shy of criticizing the extreme anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic views held by certain Arab circles. But Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon rarely grants the United States’ highest representative in Israel an official audience.
The ambassador’s comments are an acknowledgment of what any serious Middle East observers knows: Hamas has always been seen as a tool by which Israel could undermine the nationalist movement led by Palestinian Authority President and Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Chairman Yasser Arafat. Similar statements by Arafat have been dismissed by Israel as “cranky” propaganda. In an interview with the Dec. 11 Italian daily Corriere della Sera, Arafat said,
“We are doing everything to stop the violence. But Hamas is a creature of Israel which at the time of Prime Minister [Yitzhak] Shamir [the late 1980s, when Hamas arose], gave them money and more than 700 institutions, among them schools, universities and mosques. Even [former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak] Rabin ended up admitting it, when I charged him with it, in the presence of [Egpytian President Hosni] Mubarak.”
To the Italian daily L’Espresso, Arafat laid out the reasons for this support. “Hamas was constituted with the support of Israel. The aim was to create an organization antagonistic to the PLO. They received financing and training from Israel. They have continued to benefit from permits and authorizations, while we have been limited, even to build a tomato factory. Rabin himself defined it as a fatal error. Some collaborationists of Israel are involved in these [terror] attacks,” he said. “We have proof, and we are placing it at the disposal of the Italian government.”
On one level the support for Hamas is simply the application of the old saying, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Indeed, in the minds of crude Israeli ultra-nationalists and fascists such as Sharon and his faction, this is indeed the case. Sharon is not interested in peace and therefore is not concerned that the violence and needless deaths of Israelis and Palestinians continue. In the Jan. 3 Ha’aretz, Yossi Sarid, chairman of the Meretz party, wrote, “What does frighten Sharon … is any prospect or sign of calm or moderation. If the situation were to calm down and stabilize, Sharon would have to return to the negotiating table and, in the wake of pressure from within and without, he would have to raise serious proposals for an agreement. This moment terrifies Sharon and he wants to put it off for as long as he possibly can.” In contrast, Sarid said that Sharon understands “that the terrorists and those who give them asylum are not the real enemies. Instead, the real enemies are the moderates…. You fight terrorists-a pretty simple operation-but you must talk with moderates, and this is a very tricky, if not dangerous, business.”
More important for the survival of not only the Palestinian people, but especially Israel itself, is the dangerous role of the puppet masters outside the region, who are manipulating both sides of this deadly game as part of their own demonic plans to spread the policy of a “clash of civilizations.” In this regard, Sharon, and his “Greater Israel” policy, is just as much a puppet as the Palestinian, strapped with explosives, who blows himself up at an Israeli bus station.
Two Decades of Undermining Arafat
Given the level of control that the Israeli intelligence services such as the Shin Bet and Mossad have been able to exert over the Palestinian territories during the last 35 years of Israeli occupation, the capability to manipulate militant and violent organizations, such as those associated with Hamas, should not surprise anyone familiar with intelligence and even routine police operations. This should be obvious, considering that Israel has routinely recruited thousands of collaborators and provocateurs among the tens of thousands of Palestinians who have passed through Israeli prisons in over 35 years of its occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Most convincing is a comparison of the development of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and their antecedents, and the growing national and international legitimacy of the PLO and its undisputed leader, Arafat.
Hamas is an acronym for Harafat al-Muqawama Al-Islamiyya, or Islamic Resistance Movement. Its spiritual leader is Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, who, despite his fiery anti-Israeli sermons, has had an unusual relationship with the Israeli authorities. In 1973, Yassin established the Islamic Association-at a time when it was Israeli policy to promote what Ambassador Kurtzer refers to as the “Islamic movement.”
One might ask: Why should Israel promote an Islamic movement which later turns around and attacks it? How could the Israeli secret services be taken in by a Yassin? They weren’t. The simple fact is, that the stated policy of Hamas is simply the flip side of Sharon’s “Greater Israel” policy that refuses to seek a territorial compromise. The Hamas charter in 1988 stated, “The land of Palestine has been an Islamic Waqf throughout the generations, and until the Day of Resurrection, no one can renounce it or part of it, or abandon it or part of it…. Peace initiatives, the so-called peace initiatives, are all contraray to the beliefs of Hamas, for renouncing any part of Palestine means renouncing part of the religion.” In this rhetoric there is no room for a state of Israel-as there is none for a state of Palestine in Sharon’s “Greater Israel.”
Israel’s Hamas relations intensified after the Arab League, in 1974, decided to recognize Arafat and the PLO as the representatives of the Palestinian people-in effect, a government in exile. By 1979, top Yassin acquired an official permit from the Israeli government of Prime Minister Menachem Begin. This coincided with the signing of the Camp David peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. That treaty embodied detailed clauses calling for the establishment of a Palestinian Authority in the Occupied Territories, which would be the precursor for the Israeli withdrawal and the establishment of a Palestinian state. Gen. Ariel Sharon has been the chief proponent since this treaty was signed, of the policy of ensuring that these clauses would never be implemented. His chosen alternatives were war in Lebanon and the expansion of the Jewish settlements in the Occupied Territories. Sharon was helped by the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat by Anglo-American-controlled, Egypt-based Islamic terrorists.
`Policy of Strengthening Islamic Bodies’ Israeli toleration, if not initial sponsorship of the Islamic movement, has been acknowledged and well documented in Israeli sources. In 1997, the Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies, at Tel Aviv University, published a study, “Hamas: Radical Islam In A National Struggle,” authored by Anat Kurz and Nahman Tal. It stated that the Islamic Association, “the platform of which contained no nationalist clauses, obtained a permit from the Israeli Civil Administration in 1979 to conduct its activities. The permit was apparently consistent with the Israeli policy of strengthening Islamic bodies as a counterweight to Palestinian nationalist groups.”
The rapid expansion of the Islamic Association led to clashes on the Palestinian University campuses in the Occupied Territories in the 1980s, between PLO-affiliated students and those associated with the Islamists. This expansion was aided by the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon, where Sharon hoped to solve the “Palestinian problem” by militarily crushing the PLO-which was then based in Lebanon-and by carrying out genocide against the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians living in impoverished refugee camps in Lebanon. Despite his orchestration of the massacre of thousands of Palestinians, including women and children, at the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps, Sharon failed to eliminate Arafat. Nonetheless, Arafat and the PLO were exiled to Tunisia, their influence severely weakened.
Sheikh Yassin, along with other Hamas leaders, was arrested in 1984, after it was discovered that the Islamic Association had maintained arms caches. But the organization was not banned. In fact, Yassin was soon released as part of an unprecedented prisoner exchange between Israel and Ahmed Jabril’s PFLP-General Command. This deal, made with one of the most violent of all anti-PLO Palestinian groups at the time, was made in a period when the Mossad was busy assassinating the most moderate of PLO leaders.
Then, in 1988, the Islamic Association created Hamas as a direct alternative to the PLO, which had launched the first Intifada the year before. 1988 was also important because the PLO, at the 19th Conference of the Palestinian National Council in Algeria in 1988, accepted the United Nations Security Council resolution of 1947 calling for two states in Palestine. They also called for convening an international peace conference based on UN Resolutions 242 and 338, which established the land-for-peace concept. This was a de facto recognition of Israel by the PLO and Arafat. By the end of 1988, the Reagan Administration extended official recognition to the PLO as the official representative of the Palestinian people.
When Palestinian leader Abu Jihad began negotiating with Hamas, in an attempt to win its mass base over to the new policy, he was promptly assassinated by the Mossad.
Yassin, as all senior leaders of Hamas, is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, the far-flung international Islamic organization with operations throughout the Islamic world. In the past, Anglo-American factions have not hesitated to manipulate the Brotherhood’s various factions to destabilize secular Arab regimes. When Zbigniew Brzezinski launched the Afghan war against Russia in the 1980s, many of the Arab mujahideen fighters were recruited through Muslim Brotherhood-linked networks. The Muslim Brotherhood story fills volumes; the crucial point here is that Hamas, one of its branches, has traditionally stood in opposition to the secular nationalism of Arafat, the PLO, and its supporting governments.
Hamas has a peculiar organizational structure which contrasts sharply with that of the PLO. While within the West Bank and Gaza, Hamas exists as a broad political movement, its militant wings, the Izza-Din Al Qassam and Islamic Jihad, split-offs from the organization, are administered totally separately. These latter organizations, which are responsible for the attacks, are under the control of leaders who operate from abroad. Their offices are in London, where the group’s magazine, Falatin Al Muslimah, is based; Jordan; Syria; and the United States, particularly in Virginia and Texas. Although Arafat has periodically tried to bring the popular base of Hamas into the Palestinian fold, the foreign-based military leadership has always opposed him.
This bifurcation dovetails with Sharon’s strategy of launching brutal attacks against Hamas targets, in order to elicit the equally brutal response from Islamic Jihad and the Izza-Din Al Qassam. Thus Arafat, and diplomatic goals, are undermined, and the fires of civil war within the Occupied Territories are stoked.
The Anti-Oslo Terror Campaign Begins The Oslo Accords marked the first glimmer of hope for a resolution of the Middle East conflict. And, the first suicide terrorist attack aimed at destroying it was not launched by Hamas or Islamic Jihad or another Palestinian faction. The first suicide attack was launched on Feb. 25, 1994, by Israeli terrorist Baruch Goldstein, when he entered the Mosque of Hebron and killed 50 Muslim worshippers as well as himself. Goldstein was a member of Kach, the terrorist organization founded by the late Meir Kahane, who also founded the Jewish Defense League in the 1960s in the United States. Kach, which is well connected to Sharon, is on the official U.S. State Department list of terrorist organizations.
The unprecedented massacre was calculated to set the stage for a suicide bombing campaign by Hamas and its split-off, Islamic Jihad, over the next year. In fact, it set into motion the “cycle of violence” that has yet to end. The Goldstein attack came at precisely the point when Israeli Prime Minister Rabin and Arafat began the formal implementation of the Oslo agreement which envisioned the establishment of a Palestinian state by 1998. The first Hamas-linked suicide attacks did not start until two months later, in April 1994, when Rabin and Arafat signed the agreement for the establishment of the Palestinian National Authority. The agreement called for the conduct of free elections throughout the territories-which would eventually establish the international legitimacy of the Arafat-led government.
But despite this terror campaign, which lasted for months under a massive crackdown by Arafat’s security forces, the Rabin-Arafat alliance, although seriously weakened, was not broken. This alliance was finally broken with Rabin’s assassination by an Israeli, on Nov. 5, 1995.
The next phase of attacks followed the “targeted assassination” of Hamas bomb-maker Yahya Ayyash on Jan. 5, 1996. Although said to be “revenge attacks,” they were in fact part of Hamas’ campaign to get Benjamin Netanyahu elected Israeli prime minister. This was admitted by Ibraham Ghawshah, Hamas’ official spokesman resident in Amman, Jordan. He said that it was part of their strategy to influence Israeli public opinion to bring down the entire Oslo process. The election of Netanyahu indeed fulfilled all their hopes, especially after he launched his own provocations, which not only brought about the pre-calculated Hamas response, but also brought the region several times to the brink of war.
This tit-for-tat campaign reached the height of insanity when Netanyahu, under the direction of Sharon, who was a member of his government at the time, launched a Mossad assassination attempt in 1997 against the Jordan-based Hamas official Khalid Mishaal. Not only did the attempt fail, but it led to Israel agreeing to release Hamas spiritual leader Sheikh Yassin from an Israeli jail, where he had been under arrest since 1989. Yassin was allowed to return to Gaza to rally Hamas against the Oslo process in general, and Arafat in particular.
This pattern has continued to this very day. Netanyahu’s downfall in 1999 led to the short-lived government of Ehud Barak, who despite much talking and negotiating, furthered the Oslo process not one iota. By the end of the Summer of 2000, the stage was set for Sharon’s ultimate provocation, his Sept. 28 march on to the Islamic holy site Al-Haram Al-Sharif/Temple Mount.
Since coming to power, Sharon has done everything to ensure the collapse of Arafat and the Palestinian Authority. If successful, it would either bring Hamas to power or lead to political chaos within the territories.
