Russians rage as Lithuania tramples cynically on 2002 transit agreement

Lithuania was allowed to join the EU on condition that Russian trains could pass through the country to Kaliningrad. (Lithuania had itself been part of Russia for generations.)

 

This is a very serious breaking of a solemn promise. Regardless of “sanctions,” Russia has the perfect right under treaty to ship goods from one part of its territory to another, and Russia and the EU signed this document.
