His article is titled “Remember Us” .
He is claiming that once the war is over, and negotiations for reparations begin, the Jews will be left out of all the deals because they will have been wiped out, reduced to a phantom.
He is hitting on emotionally charged hot buttons, most likely to infuriate average Americans against the German’s. (brutal acts by Germans against Jewish children, old people, and unarmed civilians. In other words brutal war crimes against humanity. )
Assume for a second, you do not know the real story, and what he writes is accepted as truth. Ask if you would not find the Germans the lowest of the low.

Page 109. ” Remember us who were in the Ukraine. Here the Germans grew angry because we were costing them too much time and ammunition to kill. They devised a less expensive method. They took our women into the roads and tied them together with our children. Then they drove their motor lorries into us. Thousands of us died with German military cars running back and forth over our broken bodies. (Is all that driving and wasting gas, really that much cheaper ?)
” Remember us in Ismail when the Rumanians came. For two days they were busy leading all Jews to the Synagogue. We were finally locked inside it. Then the Rumanian Iron guards blew us up with dynamite. ( Is using all that dynamite cheaper than some bullets? )
( But wouldn’t one match have been cheaper, since they are all locked inside, and he just told us about the need to save money in the extermination process. ) ” In Ungheni, Rumania, the Germans accused us of crimes against the police. Three thousand of us were tried. The Germans followed us to our homes. They had been forbidden to waste bullets on us. ( No bullets, but gasoline and dynamite are OK ? ) We were old and unarmed, but it took them two days to club us all to death with their rifle butts and rip us into silence with their bayonets”.
“Remember, too those of us who were not killed by the Germans but who killed themselves. Some say there were 100,000 of us, some say200,000. No count was kept. Our deaths accomplished little, but it made us happy to die quickly and to know that we were robbing the Germans of their sport “.
(Do you see a problem with this claim. Nobody was counting, but we are given good estimate of the count and the number is huge. I am not sure what sort of term you apply to such journalistic manipulation, but he is definitely messing with the readers mind. Keep in mind a few million copies of this magazine were distributed across America in 1943, and the readership could be 10,000,000.)

Question: How does Ben Hecht know in late 1942, there will be millions of additional Jews killed before the war ends ?
Answer: He read a copy of the May 20, 1920 issue of the New York Times, which carried a ad on page 9 by the Joint Distribution Committee, and that ad told the world of the plight of 6,000,000 dying Jews in Europe on the verge of extermination. Is it no wonder not one of these holocaust promoters will debate the issue. They know it is mish-mash of lies, fabrications and tall tales, many of which defy the laws of physics, that the average 10 year old, can figure out is a scam.

In the beginning of the article, he has told us 2,000,000 of 6,000,000 Jews in Europe are already dead.
Question: How does he know and what is his source ? Fair question.
Answer: Just trust him, because all you get is, his word.
But this was likely written in late 1942, ( for a Feb publish date). He does not explain where the 2,000,000 figure came from.
In the last paragraph I quoted from the article, he is saying the nearly 500,000 deaths ( my estimate) he has already cataloged for the reader, are only a FEW of the Jewish deaths, so far.
I have printed a sample of the many methods he lists for the way Jews are dying, more are listed below.
Curiously enough, in the article there is not a peep about burning ditches, or gas chambers, steam chambers or electric fences !
( can you see how the methods changed over time until children today are taught mostly just about gas chamber deaths, to the exclusion of all other methods !
Other German killing methods he shares with the reader:
A. ) ” thousands of us were whipped and bayoneted to death…. on the charge of having been caught praying to God ” . ( a slick emotional tug at mainstream American religious folks. The reader can imagine Aunt Helen or Uncle Joe praying in their church while the Nazi’s drag them out and bayonet them for no real reason, beyond, just praying. )
B.) ” We hung from windows and burned in basements and were beaten to death in the marketplace and it was a great time of celebration for the Germans. ”
C.) ” We died on trains standing up for there was no food, water or air. ”
D.) ” We fill the waters of the Dnieper (river) today with our bodies, thousands of us, and for a long time to come no one will be able to drink from that river. And this, too, is held against us, that we have poisoned the waters with our dead bodies. ”
One can only wonder, how many of these kind of articles were published in the 1940’s ?
