Michigan Gov Whitmer Builds $1M Electric Fence To Protect Home From Rioters
Democrat Governor security upgrade comes after she slashed Millions from police budget
Democrat Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is building an eight-foot-high electrified fence to protect her home in Lansing from rioters.
The fence and ancillary security are reported to be in excess of $1.1 million.
It’s worth noting Whitmer’s hypocrisy, common among Democrat leaders, is even more prevalent when taking into account she attacked President Donald Trump for using barriers to prevent illegal immigration.
The Michigan governor called Trump’s border wall “costly and ineffective” in February 2017, a week after suggesting the money would be better spent elsewhere.
“$40 BILLION for the wall,” Whitmer tweeted.
“Think how many kids that would educate, how many roads, bridges, and pipes it would fix.”

In 2018, Whitmer also said, “it is time we get back to building bridges, not walls.”

Whitmer also tweeted:
“Trump’s proposed Mexican border wall would be costly & ineffective. Both Republicans & Democrats agree”

Whitmer spokeswoman Tiffany Brown said of Whitmer’s expensive security upgrades on her home:
“Routine maintenance and upgrades are performed as needed to ensure the safety, security, and protection of any sitting governor and the first family,” The Detroit News reported.
She added that funds from the executive office budget would be used for the fence.
Michigan State Police and the state Department of Technology advised renovations at the governor’s residence, Brown said.
Shanon Banner, the spokeswoman for the Michigan State Police, stated:
“As a matter of practice, we’re constantly reviewing security protocols and adjusting as needed. We don’t comment on specific threats against the governor nor do we provide information about security measures.”
Earlier this year, a Detroit man was charged after allegedly making “credible threats to kill” Whitmer and Attorney General Dana Nessel, the Detroit News reported.
Whitmer said during a 26 press conference:
An “explosion of rampant rumors and violent death threats against my family and me online.”
It’s also worth noting that Whitmer slashed millions of dollars from the state’s police, prisons, and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) budgets in July.
The Michigan Governor moved to support the radical-left “defund the police” movement with an eye-watering $115.07 million cut from the Michigan State Police budget.
This is not the first time Democrat leaders have displayed such hypocrisy after calling to defund the police.
In July, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot deployed dozens of police officers to guard her block where she lives from rioters.
