As detestable as Macron is in the eyes of 90% of the French people, who reject him as much as many Canadians do Justin Trudeau, his assertion of French independence from Washington may both ensure his reelection and advance peace in Europe.
And the outrageous stealing of a contract to build submarines for Australia by the US and UK from France, which had a signed, $20 bio agreement with Oz, has reinforced the Continental view of the English-speaking “Five Eyes” countries as an arrogant and perfidious clique that runs roughshod over vital European interests.
Beyond that, France is a proud country and a genuine Great Power, and has been for 1200 years!
