This was the first “Hitler video†I saw, and it moved me to tears. I believe this is the liberation of Danzig because the people are so emotional. Many had relatives who had been murdered. When I see that young boy in the video crying, I break down. The women are not crying because they are infatuated with Hitler! No! These were tears of relief and hope. Their rescuer had arrived.
By 1938 two thirds of German property and possessions in Poland have been brutally expropriated by the Poles, forcing hundreds of thousands to flee back to Germany. Also by 1938 8,000 Germans had been murdered, often in the most bestial ways by mutilating them and torturing them to death. Thousands were imprisoned on false accusations. It was an extermination plan, just as it was against all Germans, and begun way back in 1871. Poland had one of the highest percentages of Jews.
After Hitler put up for many months with the constant attacks by the Poles on the German border guards and the attacks on Germans living on the Polish side near the border, and the Polish militia and army finally entered German territory by crossing the border, he said at his speech on Sept. 1, 1939: “Since 4:45 a.m., we are shooting back.â€
As the German soldiers entered Poland, winning against the Poles, they found masses of mutilated and slaughtered German civilians all over the streets in all directions, no matter where the German soldiers entered Poland from.
In addition 58,000 German civilians vanished in this first month in Poland without a trace.
If I remember this correctly, the war lasted only 18 days. What did we need a second World War for???
