In reading the excellent analysis by Korybko below it hit me over and over — the very premise that Great Powers would ever even want to harm or weaken each other is idiotic.
#America is located in the New World, Russia is in Eastern Europe — and China is over in the Far East.
They are not even physically close to each other!
Yes, Siberia and the Russian Far East have a border with China, but almost two-thirds of the Russian population lives back in Europe — just as 58% of the American population lives concentrated east of the Mississippi.
And as for China, almost its entire population is in eastern China, not even close to the Russians.

But as Eckhart Tolle elucidates what the Buddha and others (such as Jesus) meant, it is not about selfishness at all.
Or rather, selfishness is a by-product of the real and core problem.
People cannot stop obsessive thinking, and mental chatter full of anger, fear and dread, about the past and the future.
They cannot see the reality before their noses, because their heads are full of non-stop and self-inflicted mental trauma. “I can’t believe what he said to me!” (Or did to me, or failed to do after he promised.)
And they dread what the future will bring.
So no gesture of genuine friendliness or peace is offered — or accepted — among the Great Powers.
On the domestic political level, we see rank insanity:

On a personal level:
— Cancer victims continuing to smoke
— Broke people blowing all their money
— Fat people pigging out though it devastates their health and attractiveness to the opposite sex
As Tolle explains it, animals are always natural and in the moment. Hence his first bestseller is called “The Power of Now.”
As people will readily concede, being “in the moment” can lead to great happiness, such as when you gaze at a gorgeous sunny day in nature with no other thoughts cluttering your mind.
Or great excellence, such as a singer (or athlete, or dancer, or even just a man making love to his wife) performing with total concentration and focus, and no extraneous thoughts occurring.
“The Cranberries” perform “Dreams” –how can they not be “in the zone” at this level of excellence? Was Delores O’Riordan thinking about being molested by her own uncle from 1-4 as she sang this? Obviously, no. The egoic mind, fretting about the past and future every second, ruins all being-in-the-zone.

A small piece of unusual yellow-green glass carved into the shape of a beautiful scarab beetle is a part of the famous pectoral of Tutankhamun and can be seen in Cairo Museum, Egypt.
The jewel was tested and found to be glass, but surprisingly it is older than the earliest Egyptian civilization.
The glass, known as Libyan Desert Silica Glass, covers a large area measuring about 30 miles east and west by 80 miles north and south and is located on the Libyan-Egyptian border.
It is 28.5 million years old and shows a grade of transparency and purity (99 percent) that is not typical in the fusions of fallen meteorites.
An extend area of strange, glassy stretches of fused silica have also been found in the most desolate areas of the Gobi Desert in Mongolia. Especially interesting are the layers discovered at Lop Nor in Sinkiang, in the vicinity of the present Chinese atomic site.
The results obtained from examined radioactive surface in the area indicate that layers of fused silica does not originate from the modern nuclear detonations but had been there long before China became a nuclear power.
