Russian air force personnel will be manning and training the Syrians with these weapons, which represent a massive upgrade over the S-200. If Israel bombs the Syrian S-300s, they will be killing Russians again.

One, Israel, an illegal country occupying Palestine by violence, has been bombing with impunity a legal, sovereign country, Syria, for decades.

Two, Israel and Syria have never established diplomatic relations. Syria and Israel have technically been in a state of war since 1948. Since the creation of both states in the mid-20th century, the countries fought three major wars: the 1948 Arab Israeli War, the Six-Day War in 1967 and the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Syria refers to Israel to this day only as “the Zionist entity,” which was also the Soviet-Russian term.

Three, Syria and Russia (whether Soviet Russia or today’s Russia under Yeltsin and, since 2000, Putin) have been close military allies for many decades, with Russia both training and arming the Syrians.

Fourth, Russia has been the protector of the Orthodox Christian remnant in the Middle East for centuries. If Assad falls, who protects the Christians, the Orthodox Christians in Syria will be slaughtered again by ISIS or the like!

Putin was KGB, yes, but only in the anti-NATO, anti-spy defense and was stationed in East Germany. The great foe of communism, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, who did 11 years in the gulag, pointed this out, and explicitly forgave Putin his KGB activities because they were directed only against NATO.

Putin gave Solzhenitsyn in 2007 the highest Russian medal, AFTER his massive 2002 antisemitic book in two volumes, Two Hundred Years Together came out. They have huge under-ice military bases there, and also in the Andes mountain range, in a kind of existence like a badger, protected in their lairs, but not daring to wage war on the United States or Russia (on neither Soviet Russia nor that of Putin).

He did not mention them. He was a fervent Calvinist Christian, thus a typical Boer, and not anti-Semitic. Like all Boers, he hated especially the English (who had killed two of his daughters in Lord Kitchener’s horrible concentration camps), and he loved and admired the Germans. He prophesied that the Germans would lose two world wars but win, that is, survive — alone — the third one.
