In German they used to have an expression to justify the idea of staying with the system of monarchy:

“Der Undank der Republiken.”

This means “the ‘unthanks,’ that is, the ingratitude, of politicians in a republic.”

This refers to the fact that unlike in a republic, a king is in there for life as the sole ruler and monarchies have been around for thousands of years.
