Giuliani is right — but like all Republicans, “for fear of the Jews” he does not go far enough, and ducks and weaves around certain truths.
The jews ARE an ethnic group, not a “faith,” and proof of this is that many jews are atheists. One was my long-time landlord in Winthrop, Massachusetts, one Ted Weiner, with whom I had many discussions between 1996-2001, when he passed on.
He said
“All religion is about making money. It’s all a crock. And if there were a God, the Holocaust would not have happened.”
Yet he was a jew.
Jews are a people, and that is why they call themselves “the Jewish people.”
And this people has a very special mission:
I rented the middle floor of this beige house on Winthrop Beach, on the corner of Shore Drive and Coral Avenue, from Ted from 1996-2001, a five-year period during which we had many discussions and became sort-of friends. What made Ted interesting was he was an average jew, and a retired welder, not some movie mogul, financier or lawyer. I used to drive Ted to the hospital for his asbestos-related illness.
He looked a bit like the famous French undersea explorer Jacques-Vyes Cousteau.

It became clear to me from five years of talking with Ted, that
1) Jews are a people, not a religion, and
2) many jews admit privately to each other, or even to a trusted gentile friend like me, that many of the things we antisemites say about them are simply true. 😉
