The first public sermon that King ever gave, in 1947 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, was plagiarizedfrom a homily by Protestant clergyman Harry Emerson Fosdick entitled “Life is What You Make It,” according to the testimony of King’s best friend of that time, Reverend Larry H. Williams.
The first book that King wrote, Stride Toward Freedom, was plagiarized from numerous sources, all unattributed, according to documentation recently assembled by sympathetic King scholars Keith D. Miller, Ira G. Zepp, Jr., and David J. Garrow.
And no less an authoritative source than the four senior editors of The Papers of Martin Luther King, Jr. (an official publication of the Martin Luther King Center for Nonviolent Social Change, Inc., whose staff included King’s widow Coretta), stated of King’s writings at both Boston University and Crozer Theological Seminary:
“Judged retroactively by the standards of academic scholarship, [his writings] are tragically flawed by numerous instances of plagiarism….
Appropriated passages are particularly evident in his writings in his major field of graduate study, systematic theology.”
King’s essay, “The Place of Reason and Experience in Finding God,” written at Crozer, pirated passages from the work of theologian Edgar S. Brightman, author of The Finding of God.
Another of King’s theses, “Contemporary Continental Theology,” written shortly after he entered Boston University, was largely stolen from a book by Walter Marshall Horton.
King’s doctoral dissertation, “A Comparison of the Conceptions of God in the Thinking of Paul Tillich and Harry Nelson Wieman,” for which he was awarded a PhD in theology, contains more than fifty complete sentences plagiarized from the PhD. dissertation of Dr. Jack Boozer, “The Place of Reason in Paul Tillich’s Concept of God.”
According to The Martin Luther King Papers, in King’s PhD. dissertation “only 49 per cent of sentences in the section on Tillich contain five or more words that were King’s own….”!
In The Journal of American History, June 1991, page 87, David J. Garrow, a Leftist academic who is sympathetic to King, says that King’s wife, Coretta Scott King, who also served as his secretary, was an accomplice in his repeated cheating. 1977 escape
On June 11, 1977, Ray made his second appearance on the FBI Most Wanted Fugitives list, this time as the 351st entry. He and six other convicts had escaped from Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary in Petros, Tennessee on June 10, 1977. They were recaptured on June 13, three days later, and returned to prison.[6]
A year was added to Ray’s previous sentence, to total 100 years. Shortly after, Ray testified before the House Select Committee on Assassinations that he did not shoot King.
Later developments
In 1997, King’s son Dexter met with Ray, and publicly supported his efforts to obtain a retrial. Loyd Jowers, a restaurant owner in Memphis, was brought to civil court and sued as being part of a conspiracy to murder Martin Luther King. Jowers was found legally liable, and the King family accepted $100 in restitution, an amount chosen to show that they were not pursuing the case for financial gain.
Dr. William Pepper, a friend of King in the last year of his life, represented Ray in a televised mock trial in an attempt to get him the trial he never had. Pepper later represented the King family in a wrongful death civil trial against Loyd Jowers. The King family has since concluded that Ray did not have anything to do with the murder of Martin Luther King.[7]
Death
Ray died in prison on April 23, 1998 [JdN: within a year of thes trials], at seventy years of age, from complications related to kidney disease and liver failure caused by Hepatitis C. He probably contracted the disease through a blood transfusion given after he sustained a stabbing while at Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. Ray was survived by seven siblings. His brother Jerry Ray told CNN that his brother did not want to be buried or have his final resting place in the United States because of “the way the government has treated him.” Ray was cremated and his ashes were flown to Ireland, the home of his family’s ancestors.

Supposed scholars, who in reality shared King’s vision, purposely covered up his cheating for decades. From the New York Times of October 11, 1991, page 15, we learn that on October 10th of that year, a committee of researchers at Boston University admitted that,

The FBI document says: ‘When one of the women protested that she did not approve, the Baptist minister immediately and forcefully raped her’ as King watched.
He is alleged to have ‘looked on, laugh and offered advice’ during the encounter.

The following day, King and a dozen others allegedly participated in a ‘sex orgy’ engaging in ‘acts of degeneracy and depravity’.
When one woman showed reluctance, King was allegedly heard saying that performing the act ‘would help your soul’.
