He does not engage, however, with any of my factual arguments.

(We were discussing the hippie anti-war movement against the Vietnam War, and how they believed the Viet Cong communists we were fighting were just “agrarian reformers and nationalists.”)

I could not fathom how anyone could not hate communism, its proven atrocities, its unnecessary cruelty, its death camps, its terror, and, most of all, its false promises to make a better world for the workers — and to end war.

Well, that made no sense at all to me at the time. 😉

For me, if your belief were disproved by new facts coming to light, then you simply had to change your opinion. You could not “dig in your heels” and continue to maintain something you now knew was untrue.

But I see now that Barry was right.

For young souls, reincarnation-wise, the truth is not important. Their ego, their wants, their wishful thinking, and their need to “be right” (as if it were all about them and about “not losing face”) made the facts just disappear. 😉

As Barry said, young souls really do “believe WHAT THEY WANT TO BELIEVE”! There is no one more egotistical, self-righteous and dangerous than a liberal.
