Israel is a settler colonial state.

And by liberal lights, this is literally true. The Zionists came from far away to settle on someone else’s land and put the indigenous people (Palestinians) onto reservations!

I remember well how the old-pre-Communist Democrat Party of John Kennedy, Harry Truman, etc, actually cared about the little guy.

I saw Cornell West speak at Brown University in 2003 to an enthusiastic student audience; this was when Bush was invading and massacring the Iraqis, of whom 400,000 perished as the Jewnited Snakes hunted for non-existent WMDs, and US Army troops were raping, torturing and beating Iraqis to death at Abu Ghraib prison.

Old-style liberals felt compassion for working-class people. One could talk with them.
