Chuck Connors was the epitome of masculinity in the 1956-63 hit series “The Rifleman,” playing a widower who was raising his son, and also running a ranch, and, with his 1892 Winchester rifle, helping out the marshal when outlaws came into town.
The blond, 6’5″ Connors, of Irish heritage, did not just act strong. He had been on the very first Boston Celtics basketball team, later played professional baseball for the Cubs, and was accepted in professional football by the Chicago Bears!
No whiners or soyboys back then!
Chuck, his wife and their four sons.
During the Baby Boom of 1946-64, the white race in America shot up from 130 million to 186 million. There was a military draft, and plenty of jobs waiting, after your military service was over, for anyone willing to work.
Just some good memes/images on various themes which I found on VK or FB lately. (I have 2600 FB friends, but am suspended over there until Sept. 1, when , in honor of WWII, I will start WWIII. 😉 ) …
