Future NASA astronaut Edward “Buzz” Aldrin served in the US Air Force during the Korean War as a pilot in his F-86 Sabre fighter jet; he shot down two enemy Mig-15’s, flying 66 combat missions. In Korea 37,000 Americans lost their lives — and the Korean people 2.5 MILLION casualties. North Korea especially, like NS Germany and Japan before it, was bombed into a land of corpses and rubble.

My father fought in Korea w/the Marines, and it was very traumatic. He had nightmares for six months after he was severely wounded and sent home. He finally consulted a Navy psychiatrist about his insomnia…and my father was one tough hombre, who had also fought at Iwo Jima in WWII.

This was an excellent movie about a real event, when a small US Army unit, despite dreadful losses, takes and holds a 900-foot hill (300 m) shaped like a pork chop, doing so somewhat for symbolic reasons in a victory which did show American heroism against awful odds to the Red Chinese and the North Koreans — and this US victory led to the armistice.

Of course, no movie directed by a jew named Milestone will raise the issue of how WWII, which had ended just eight years before, had actually saved communism and made the whole Cold War possible, with trillions of dollars spent on the military to “fight communism,” enabling the horrors of the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the nearly world-ending catastrophe of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The movie, interestingly, actually shows some extremely bad conduct by a black soldier — which reflected actual problems caused by a real black unit.

Strode and Edwards’ portrayal of African American soldiers is based on the 24th Infantry Regiment, which was still racially segregated in Korea. All Black units were integrated in the summer and fall of 1951 [by order of the spineless US president Harry Truman, who despised the Blacks, was a former KKK  member, and wrote harsh criticisms of Blacks  in his diary. But to boost Demoncrat votes, he integrated the US armed forces anyway.]

All Black units were integrated and closed out on 1 October 1951. Like its cinematic portrayal, the real regiment was poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly led.[11] More than once when this all-black unit was placed on the front lines, a unit in reserve was positioned directly behind because they were expected to break. I subscribe to the Epoch Times, a mostly excellent conservative weekly newspaper and website.

It praised this movie for both its powerful messages and also how, though the second half is truly a “war movie,” it did not need or seek to show blood, gore, and brains to be deeply moving. It had a great plot and meaning, and you cared about the characters. There was basically no CGI, just a real story of human beings you could relate to.

(And, yes, the studio, the producer and the director were all jewish. But the jews HAD to produce quality for the White Americans living at that far less degenerate time. In fact, given that America was the jews’ chosen tool, and the main support of Israel, with Stalin having turned increasingly against them, the jews WANTED America to be strong, patriotic and unified back then, and also cranking out beautiful white children.)

My father suffered intensely during the Korean War as a Marine officer. For all his faults, he tried to be a good dad, and was in many way an outstanding man, a self-made millionaire, and a real masculine fellow with charm, tact and charisma who lit up every room he entered.  Women and men both loved my dad. He was “The Man.”

Specifically, in Korea,  half his Marine officer class was either killed or wounded and evacuated, as he was, spending three days in a coma and waking up in a hospital in Tokyo — whence he was shipped back stateside.

Stopping marxism/communism with all its horrors was the big and noble mission Americans had. And lots of Americans fought bravely and well, and many died.

I would agree with this comment:

Born in 1945, my mom took me into Manhattan to see this movie in the 50s. It’s become my favorite movie of all time. William Holden, Grace Kelly, Mikey Rooney, and others were superb in their acting roles. When you consider this was filmed 65+ years ago, the cinematography is superb and real. For me it’s #1.

This is just a clip of some aircraft scenes, all done on a real US Navy aircraft carrier of that period. Vital were the Navy helicopters and crews that fished downed pilots out of the freezing waters. (Sharks were also a horrible factor, as in WWII, though not mentioned in this movie.)

I wish to end by now drawing attention to one of many excellent scenes. At 29:57-30:07 the Admiral says to the pilot and his wife: I am no longer allowed by the Pentagon to say the truth to the press — that we are actually fighting the [Soviet communist] Russians, their guns, planes, pilots and submarines:
