==============BERLIN OLYMPICS 1936

The London Olympics that just ended were a British pop-music extravaganza run by the Jews who own the music industry.

This was the 1936 Olympics run by Hitler Germany.

Many things we take for granted today were introduced into the Olympics by the Third Reich, such as the five-rings symbol itself, showing five continents united, and the giant flame that burned throughout the games. At the 1936 Games, Germany won the most medals by far, 50% more than the United States.

And Jesse Owens was NOT snubbed by Hitler. Hitler waved happily to him, as Owens himself testified, and later said acidically to American journalists: “At least in Germany I did not have to ride in the back of the bus.”

The one who did refuse to shake his hand was Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

As for the Owens handshake issue, Hitler was admonished by Olympic Committee chairman Avery Brundage that international Olympic friendship meant he should shake the hands of every winning athlete, or of none at all.

Hitler understandably had been shaking the hands of every winning German athlete until that time. Since the Brundage request would have taken all his time up — to shake every victor’s hand (after all, he had a major country to run in the meantime) — Hitler stopped doing the handshake altogether. That was the one and only reason Jesse Owens got no handshake from Hitler. Instead he got a joyful wave from the man.

And, as stated above, Owens did not “disprove the myth of Aryan superiority.” The Germans, promoting the Aryan idea, clobbered every other nation in medals. The USA, with twice the population, and twice the wealth, came in second, after being first in medals in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Here (in German) is a rare color report on Berlin during the 1936 Olympics:

Look how miserable the Germans were under the “Nazis” — scowling SS standing around everywhere, arresting anyone who was not blond, or beating delicate jews who were trying to find cures for cancer. 😉

The poor Germans suffered terribly … under safe streets, a booming economy, national pride, clean movies, books and magazines, and a booming birth rate reflecting a record number of marriages. 😉

America meanwhile continued stuck under Roosevelt for eleven years in the Great Depression, caused by  the Wall Street Jews who financed his rise to evil power.

If you have not yet seen it, here is my very important Brackenridge video:

.

Btw, the first television broadcast in the world happened here at the 1936 Berlin Games. Hitler’s speech opening the Games as the host country leader was broadcast from the stadium to department stores in downtown Berlin.

I did a blog on German leadership in television, but Jews hacked both it and the online article it was based on.

Germany had live TV fifteen years before America: news, sports and weather. Eva Braun gave her boyfriend Adolf a TV set in 1935…..But Germans went to watch TV not at home but in special TV theaters, rather  like movie theaters. Goebbels felt people enjoyed a production much more sitting together, as a group experience, and that TV should be accessible to everyone, even the poorest. So he banned private TV ownership at that time, TV sets being in the early days very expensive and only for the rich.

TV, Goebbels also felt, should unite people, not divide them into lonely individuals watching a program alone in the dark — as we see today in lonely America…

.

….a land of people living spiritually alone (and this is the sad truth even if others physically are in the house).

In the Jodie Foster ET movie “Contact,” a benevolent alien species contacts the SETI program after receiving, across the light years, the first TV broadcast, which was in fact Hitler opening the 1936 Games. (In the video below, the Jew National Security Advisor freaks out — “Get me the White House” — when the first transmission from the ETs is the Hitler speech! 😉 But this was just the aliens’ way of saying “Hey, we got your transmission.” ;-))

==============SUBLIMINAL ADVERTIZING TO CREATE SEX OBSESSIONS

The purpose of anything satanic is to animalize human beings, and make them slaves to their lower desires.

The video below may amaze you. You may think subliminal advertizing is illegal, No, it is not illegal, not in any of the 50 states, and it is going on 24/7, unethically, sidestepping your conscious and critical mind to sneak messages into your unconscious. This has JEW written all over it.

Ir reminds me of what Ernst Zündel wrote 15 years ago about the white race: never has there been more sex going on — and less reproduction.

Sex is for making babies and strengthening bonds between man and woman so they stay together despite their individual differences and serve as parents and then as grandparents. Period.

Sex is not the main goal of life; it is a means to an end — the survival of our people.

And all sex should involve LOVE. The Christian word for love, agapé, means unselfish love, caring about what is good for the other person. These subliminal ads promote animal lust, me-me-me. Satanic, and Jewish.

=================WHY ARE THE STARS INVERTED?

For those who understand symbols this is very significant.

The year 2000 is a hugely symbolic number in itself, indicating a brand new millenium, the start of a New Age.

In that year the stars on the GOP elephant became pentagrams. This was not an improvement in the efficiency of the graphic design as the upturned stars fit easier into the curved top of the logo. Why the change then?

20th Century 21st Century

A curious point in the Republican Elephant’s evolution occurred in the year 2000 during the first year of George W. Bush’s administration. With virtually no notice and little if any subsequent explanation, the 3 stars in the GOP Elephant logo were inverted so that they now stood points down. The law concerning “Respect For The Flag”, US Code Title 4 Section 8(a), reads “The flag should never be displayed with the union (the stars represent the union of the states) down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.”

The GOP logo is hardly a flag, though it outwardly and consciously apes one – and by the way, the Democratic Donkey still wears its stars points-up… just sayin’. And just askin’: Hillary WTF??

==============LONDON OLYMPICS

This is the official London 2012 Olympics logo above.
The designer Wolff Ollin was paid $1 million to create it.Why?
It can be read in 3 different ways.
As numbers, as letters or as figures.
We expect it to say “2012” so that’s what we see.

If we were expecting it to spell out a word, this is what we would see:

If we saw it as abstract art among other abstract human figures, this is what we would see:

Can you see it, or are you still in disbelief?
Yes, the “Olympics” female figure on the right is performing fellatio on the male “London” figure on the left!

If you find your self thinking,”no way, that head is too big” or “they would never put this stuff for the whole world to see”
or “this guy who sent this to me is crazy,” it s only because you are in denial.
If you keep looking at the logo for a few minutes with this interpretation it is hard to see it as 2012 again.
This becomes the dominant interpretation and the reason for abstracting the numbers in the first place
Your friends will call you crazy if you say it and the designer will never admit it publicly but that’s what it is.
But don’t worry, It can still be a 2012 if you want it to. That is the million dollar genius about it.

Oh, and did I mention that the square or dot in the middle of the design where all the sex is taking place also serves as the eyeball of an abstract “all seeing eye?”
Just like the ones the two mascots Winlock and Mandeville have, and also all the pyramid light towers atop the Olympic stadium.

You gotta hand it to these guys. They can surely hide their messages in plain sight, while we go around with … “eyes wide shut.”

=======WASHINGTON TIMES REVEALS US ARMY OFFICERS BEING TRAINED TO KILL TEA PARTY ACTIVISTS

I hasten to add, for those who have not lived for 18 years in Washington DC as I have, that the Washington Times is a major newspaper read by all the Republicans. The Washington Post is the liberal paper. The Washington Times veers between paleo-conservative (Founding Fathers) and neo-conservative (Bush-Cheney US Empire ideology, waterboarding, fighting for Israel, etc.). In the 1980s the Times often ran my letters to the editor.

EDITORIAL: The Civil War of 2016

U.S. military officers are told to plan to fight Americans

By THE WASHINGTON TIMES

  • Tea Party extremists seizing control of a South Carolina town and the Army being sent in to crush the rebellion. This farcical vision is now part of the discussion in professional military circles.

At issue is an article in the respected Small Wars Journal titled “Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A ‘Vision’ of the Future.” It was written by retired Army Col. Kevin Benson of the Army’s University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and Jennifer Weber, a Civil War expert at the University of Kansas. It posits an “extremist militia motivated by the goals of the ‘tea party’ movement” seizing control of Darlington, S.C., in 2016, “occupying City Hall, disbanding the city council and placing the mayor under house arrest.” The rebels set up checkpoints on Interstate 95 and Interstate 20 looking for illegal aliens. It’s a cartoonish and needlessly provocative scenario.

The article is a choppy patchwork of doctrinal jargon and liberal nightmare. The authors make a quasi-legal case for military action and then apply the Army’s Operating Concept 2016-2028 to the situation. They write bloodlessly that “once it is put into play, Americans will expect the military to execute without pause and as professionally as if it were acting overseas.” They claim that “the Army cannot disappoint the American people, especially in such a moment,” not pausing to consider that using such efficient, deadly force against U.S. citizens would create a monumental political backlash and severely erode government legitimacy.

The vision is hard to take seriously. As retired ArmyBrig. Gen. Russell D. Howard, a former professor at West Point, observed earlier in his career, “I am a colonel, colonels write a lot of crazy stuff, but no one listens to colonels, so I don’t see the problem.” Twenty years ago, then-Air Force Lt. Col. Charles J. Dunlap Jr. created a stir with an article in Parameters titled “The Origins of the American Military Coup of 2012.” It carried a disclaimer that the coup scenario was “purely a literary device intended to dramatize my concern over certain contemporary developments affecting the armed forces, and is emphatically not a prediction.”

The scenario presented in Small Wars Journal isn’t a literary device but an operational lay-down intended to present the rationale and mechanisms for Americans to fight Americans. Col. Benson and Ms. Weber contend, “Army officers are professionally obligated to consider the conduct of operations on U.S. soil.” This is a dark, pessimistic and wrongheaded view of what military leaders should spend their time studying.

A professor at the Joint Forces Staff College was relieved of duty in June for uttering the heresy that the United States is at war with Islam. The Obama administration contended the professor had to be relieved because what he was teaching was not U.S. policy. Because there is no disclaimer attached to the Small Wars piece, it is fair to ask, at least in Col. Benson’s case, whether his views reflect official policy regarding the use of U.S. military force against American citizens.

UPDATE: The standard Defense Department disclaimer was added to the article after The Washington Times drew attention to the omission.

============DHS orders another ocean of bullets

DHS To Purchase Another 750 Million Rounds Of Ammo

Second massive ammunition buy this year fuels fears of civil unrest

by Paul Joseph Watson
www.Infowars.com

Monday, August 13, 2012

Fears that federal authorities are preparing for mass civil unrest have increased after it was revealed that the Department of Homeland Security is planning to buy a further 750 million rounds of ammo in addition to the 450 million rounds of hollow point bullets already purchased earlier this year.

A solicitation originally issued by the DHS in April but updated on Friday calls on suppliers to provide a plethora of different types of ammunition, including 357 mag rounds that are able to penetrate walls.

The PDF file for the solicitation lists the different units of ammo required by the thousand, with the total ammo purchase exceeding 750 million rounds.

“The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Glynco, Georgia anticipates awarding multiple award indefinite delivery and indefinite quantity (IDIQ) firm fixed price (FFP) contracts for commercial leaded training ammunition (CLTA) of various calibers for law enforcement officer firearms training courses at the following FLETC facilities Glynco, GA, Artesia, NM, Cheltenham, MD and Charleston, SC and to other Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agencies. The Government guarantees a minimum of 1,000 rounds per year on each resultant contract. Contracts will be for a base year and four (4) 12 month option periods,” states the synopsis.

Potential suppliers are required to respond to the solicitation before August 20.

The purchase comes in addition to an order for 450 million rounds of .40-caliber hollow point bullets which wasfulfilled by Alliant Techsystems Inc. back in March, news greeted by some as an indication that the DHS was arming itself in preparation to go to war with the American people.

Although the ammo purchases are ostensibly earmarked for training purposes, the DHS has been reticent to clarifywhy such an unusually large amount of rounds are necessary and why such powerful bullets are required merely for training drills.

This has led to speculation that the purchases are connected to confirmed preparations for civil unrest in the United States.

The DHS recently put out an order for riot gear in preparation for the upcoming DNC, RNC and presidential inauguration. The U.S. Army is also busy buying similar equipment.

The DHS also recently purchased a number of bullet-proof checkpoint booths that include ‘stop and go’ lights.

A recently leaked US Army Military Police training manual for “Civil Disturbance Operations” outlines how military assets are to be used domestically to quell riots, confiscate firearms and even kill Americans on U.S. soil during mass civil unrest.

On page 20 of the manual, rules regarding the use of “deadly force” in confronting “dissidents” are made disturbingly clear with the directive that a, “Warning shot will not be fired.”

The manual includes lists of weapons to be used against “rioters” or “demonstrators,” including “antiriot grenades.” It also advises troops to carry their guns in the “safe port arms” stance, a psychological tactic aimed at “making a show of force before rioters.” Non-lethal weapons and water cannons are also included.

The increasing likelihood of a full blown financial collapse in the coming months has also spurred federal agencies and the U.S. Army to hone their preparations for domestic disorder on a scale greater than riots witnessed in Europe over the past two years.

A 2008 report produced by the U.S. Army War College’s Strategic Institute warned that the United States may experience massive civil unrest in the wake of a series of crises which it termed “strategic shock.”

“Widespread civil violence inside the United States would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order and human security,” stated the report, authored by [Ret.] Lt. Col. Nathan Freir, adding that the military may be needed to quell “purposeful domestic resistance”.

Last year, Department of Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano directed ICE to prepare for a mass influx of immigrants into the United States, calling for the plan to deal with the “shelter” and “processing” of large numbers of people.

==========================Syria and the Invisible Hand of Foreign Intervention

What’s really going on in Syria.  80,000 Christians dispossessed by the phony “Free Syrian Army” (mob of CIA, MI6, Mossad, and Saudi pricks and whatever sadistic myrmidons they can pick up) for the planned destruction of one more Middle East country’s wealth, geographic position and people, for the sake of the corporate dollar and ersatz, clearly satanic, Israel.  Waving the US flag at this is worse than stupid, it’s an insult to the nation itself, as was the destruction of Libya, Iraq, etc.  And an invitation into WW3, something the rah, rah, flag wavers will sorely rue in a short time if it happens.  The bull shit about the invincible military strength of the US is just that, bull shit.  The country is already more broke than broke could possibly be – as everyone thought a few years ago.  The hurt is coming home everywhere finally.  Collapse is about here.

As they earlier did with their TOTALLY ONE-SIDED REPORTING, promoting military attacks on Serbia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, (and Lebanon/Gaza on behalf of Israel), the OWNERS of our major TV networks are again daily whipping up “justifications” for war against Syria (as well as Iran)!

And they refuse to report the following…

80,000 Christians driven out by Syrian “rebels”

Syria’s Crumbling Pluralism
Civil Disintegration and Ethnic Cleansing.

By KAPIL KOMIREDDI
NY Times
Excerpts only from below (but NOT reported by America’s TV networks)…
As Saudi Arabian arms and money bolster the opposition, the 80,000 Christians who’ve been “cleansed” from their homes in Hamidiya and Bustan al-Diwan in Homs Province in March by the Free Syrian Army have gradually given up the prospect of ever returning home.
The rebels’ conduct has prompted at least some Sunnis who had supported the rebels and once-wavering Syrians to pledge renewed loyalty to Assad. Many who once regarded the regime as a kleptocracy now view it as the best guarantor of Syria’s endangered pluralism.
—————————

August 03, 2012 “NY Times” —  DAMASCUS – The day begins here with the call to prayer and ends with the roar of gunfire. Syria’s pluralistic society, which once rose above sectarian identity in a region often characterized by a homicidal assertion of religious belief, is now faced with civil disintegration and ethnic cleansing.

In Bab Touma, the Christian quarter of the old city, the magnificently restored Ottoman mansions housing many of the hotels that only two years ago overflowed with Western tourists have become temporary sanctuaries for Syrian minorities fleeing their homes and cities.

A Christian doctor of Palestinian origin huddling with his family of four in a small room in one of the hotels was looking for a way out of the country: “My father came to Syria as a refugee,” he told me. “I made it my home. Now I am having to uproot my two young sons.”

His home, in Midan in southern Damascus, came under attack during an intense battle last week between the opposition Free Syrian Army and government forces. Midan is now officially a safe area, but hardly anyone believes that peace will endure.

Syria’s 2.3 million Christians, constituting about 10 percent of the country’s population, have generally known a more privileged existence under the Assad dynasty than even the Shiite Alawi sect to which President Bashar al-Assad belongs. Yet their allegiance to Assad was never absolute. Some Christians openly clamored for political change in the early months of the anti-government uprising. But as the rebellion became suffused with Sunni militants sympathetic to or affiliated with Al Qaeda, Christians recoiled.

A churchgoing Syrian told me that he used to see himself primarily as “Syrian” and that religious identity, in political terms, was an idea that never occurred to him – until an opposition gang attacked his family earlier this year in Homs. “It’s a label they pinned on us,” he said. “If their revolution is for everyone, as they keep insisting it is, why are Christians being targeted? It is because what they are waging is not a struggle for freedom, and it’s certainly not for everyone.”

A Sunni shopkeeper in the impoverished suburb of Set Zaynab, which was partly destroyed in the clashes last week, no longer supports the rebellion. “I wanted Assad to go because he is corrupt,” he said. “But what happened here, what they did, it scared me. It made me angry. I cannot support the murder of my neighbors in the name of change. You cannot bring democracy by killing innocent people or by burning the shrines of Shiites. Syrians don’t do that. This is the work of the Wahhabis in Saudi Arabia,” he added, referring to the ultra conservative Sunni sect.

Repeated attempts by Free Syrian Army fighters to destroy a shrine to Sayyida Zeinab, the granddaughter of the Prophet Muhammad revered by Shiites, have not yet caused the area’s Sunni minority to flee – many Shiites here have refused to blame their Sunni neighbors for the rebels’ crimes.

Over the past week, more than a dozen Syrians – chiefly Alawi and Christian, but also a handful of Sunnis – affirmed to me their determination to pick up arms to defend Assad.

The seeming indifference of the international community to the worsening condition of Syria’s religious minorities – and the near total absence of censure of the opposition forces by the Western governments arrayed against Assad – is breeding a bitter anti-Americanism among many secular Syrians who see the United States aligning itself with Saudi Arabia, the fount of Wahhabism, against the Arab world’s most resolutely secular state.

Fresh from abetting the suppression of a pro-democracy uprising in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia’s intervention in Syria is part of its effort to attenuate Iran’s influence and cripple what it fears is a growing Shiite corridor of power in the Middle East.

Most Syrians, regardless of their faith, want the power to change their government. But the armed groups that have seized control of the rebellion, now contaminated with Al Qaeda fighters and corrupted by Saudi money, have repelled many people.

A year and a half after the insurrection began, Assad’s forces are exhausted and dispirited – but there is no sign yet of a simultaneous mass uprising in any of the major cities. Instead, rebel fighters on Saudi payroll launch coordinated attacks on high-value targets, the Syrian Army retaliates with disproportionate force, and videos of the ensuing devastation are posted on the Internet.

Proponents of a peaceful political solution, like the signatories to the so-called Sant’Egidio appeal last week in Italy, have been eclipsed by sectarian leaders of the Syrian National Council urging the international community to give them anti-aircraft weapons.

Washington is aware of the scale of the problem. As early as June 2011, Robert Stephen Ford, the U.S. ambassador to Syria, briefed his counterparts in Damascus about Al Qaeda’s penetration of the opposition forces. By still ploughing ahead with its support for Saudi Arabia’s effort to destabilize Syria, Washington, far from assisting Israel or weakening Iran, is helping to fuel a humanitarian crisis that will come back to haunt the United States.

Interfering in Syria

By Eric S. Margolis

August 11, 2012 “Information Clearing House” —

The Polish Zionist ideologue Vladimir Jabotinsky, the father of Israel’s right wing, observed nearly a century ago that much of the Arab world was a fragile mosaic. A few sharp blows, he wrote, would cause it to shatter, leaving Israel the region’s dominant power. Jabotinsky may have been right.

Even if the Bashar al-Assad regime manages to hang on in Syria, that country’s economy is being wrecked, its people driven into poverty and neighbors tempted to intervene. Israel just threatened to attack Syria’s modest store of chemical weapons. Turkey is stumbling into the morass, egged on by the Saudis and Gulf Arabs. Russia’s national prestige is increasingly involved in Syria—which is as close to its borders as northern Mexico is to the United States. Iran may yet get involved.

We could be observing the beginning of a twenty-first-century version of the 1930s’ Spanish civil war, which became a proxy struggle between Germany, Italy and the Soviet Union. The only thing we know for sure about Syria’s civil war is that it is extremely dangerous to the entire region. Its outcome is entirely unpredictable. Meanwhile, the West keeps fueling the fires.

As a veteran correspondent who has covered fourteen conflicts and closely followed events in Syria since 1975, I have become convinced that there’s much more to the civil war raging in Syria than Westerners are being told by their governments or the blinkered media.

Last week, Reuters reported a classified intelligence “finding” signed by President Obama authorizing aid to the Syrian rebels. This may be the tip of the iceberg that eventually reveals an extensive covert campaign by the United States, Britain, France, Saudi Arabia and Turkey to overthrow the Assad government in Damascus. According to this scenario, these U.S. allies would be using Qatar, assorted freelance jihadists and Lebanese rightists as cat’s-paws to sustain the uprising. Jihadists, both Syrian and foreign, may also play a spearhead role in the fighting.

In fact, the Assad clan was long a target of jihadist wrath, described as godless tyrants oppressing good Muslims, in bed with the heretical Shia of Iran and too often cooperating with Western powers. Osama Bin Laden called on all jihadists to overthrow the Assads. Bin Laden is gone, of course, but the movement he sparked continues to gain momentum.

That revolution has erupted again in Syria is no surprise: the Assad family and its Alawite power base have brutally ruled Syria for over forty years. Rebellions by the Sunni majority, led by the underground Muslim Brotherhood, have been crushed with ferocity. This writer was outside the city of Hama in 1982 when government heavy guns and tanks put down a Sunni rebellion there, inflicting an estimated ten thousand casualties.

But until recently, Syria was in our good books. The Assad regime quietly cooperated with Western powers and Israel, jailed or liquidated Islamists, and kept quiet about the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights. The Bush administration even sent Islamist suspects to be imprisoned in Syria. Assad and his henchmen were another of our unsavory allies.

However, that was before war fever over Iran gripped Washington. Overthrowing the Assad government, Iran’s only Arab ally, would be a natural first step in overthrowing Iran’s Islamic government and isolating, then eliminating, Israel’s bitter Lebanese foe, Hezbollah.

If Syria were shattered into little confessional ministates and Hezbollah crushed, Lebanon likely would become an Israeli protectorate. Such was the strategic plan of Israel’s General Ariel Sharon in 1982.

Western powers already may be employing destabilization methods in Syria that were perfected in Libya. The DGSE, French foreign intelligence, cobbled together a group of Libyan exiles to form the “National Forces Coalition,” which rallied anti-Qadaffi elements in Benghazi. Britain’s MI6 intelligence had been active there for decades stirring up opponents of the Qadaffi regime.

In Libya, NATO air power intervened on “humanitarian” grounds to halt killing of civilians. News reports showed only lightly armed civilians battling Qadaffi’s regulars. Not shown were French, British and some other Western special forces disguised as Libyans that did much of the fighting and targeted air strikes.

France made use of a similar tactics in its brief border war with Libya in 1986 over the disputed Aouzou Strip on the Chadian-Libyan desert border. Chadian troops supposedly routed Libyan forces. In reality, the “Chadians” were actually tough French Foreign Legionnaires decked out in Bedouin dress. I interviewed some of the Legionnaires involved.

Fast-forward to today’s Syria. As a former soldier, I cannot believe that anti-Assad forces in Syria have made such great strides on their own. All armed forces require command and control, specialized training, communications and logistics. How have anti-Assad forces moved so quickly and pushed back Syria’s capable, well-equipped army? Where does all their ammo come from? Who is supplying all those modern assault rifles with optical sights?

How have so many Syrian T-72 tanks and other armored vehicles been knocked out? Not by amateur street fighters. Powerful antitank weapons—likely French, American or Turkish—have been used extensively. You don’t blow up a modern T-72 tank with light, handheld RPG rockets. Powerful antitank weapons, like the U.S. TOW or French Milan, require professional, trained crews. The use of these weapons suggests that outside forces are involved in the fighting, as they were in Libya.

Now come reports that the rebels are receiving small numbers of man-portable antiaircraft missiles. If properly used, they would threaten the Assad regime’s armed helicopters. Yet using such missiles requires a good deal of training. I saw in Afghanistan in the 1980s how long it took the mujahidin to learn this skill from CIA instructors—and then how quickly the Red Air Force was denied air superiority.

If Syria’s rebels are being trained, it is probably happening in Turkey (which makes the deadly U.S. Stinger AA missile under license). However, the United States has a major campaign under way to prevent jihadist groups from acquiring such man-portable missiles. If the Taliban received effective antiaircraft missiles, U.S. military operations in Afghanistan would be seriously threatened.

According to Reuters sources, the United States may have worked with Turkish allies to set up a command HQ at Adana, close to its Incirlik airbase in eastern Turkey near the Syrian border. This is where it would make sense for U.S. intelligence to coordinate the flow of arms, communications gear, medical supplies, food and munitions to the Syrian rebels.

Other unverified reports from the Mideast suggest that the U.S. mercenary firm formerly known as Blackwater (it recently changed its name to Academi) is training Syrian rebels in Turkey, moving in veteran mercenaries from Iraq, where there were once fifty thousand U.S.-paid private soldiers, and sending combat units into Syria.

Antiregime groups such as the Free Syrian Army probably would be ineffective without some kind of covert Western support. Whether they can grasp power from the jihadis who now dominate the streets remains to be seen. This gambit worked in Libya—at least so far. Syria, in contrast, is a very complex nation whose modern era has been marked by instability and coups.

After overthrowing one Syrian government in the late 1940s, Washington wisely backed off from Syria. Now it may get drawn back into the vortex of one of the Mideast’s most difficult nations.
