The late, great Tom Metzger
Tom Metzger
He was a member of a Ku Klux Klan organization that was led by David Duke, but his branch split with Duke’s organization in 1980.
In 1980, Metzger won the Democratic Party nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives with over 40,000 votes in a San Diego-area district. The national Democratic Party chairman disavowed his candidacy, instead endorsing the incumbent four-term Republican, who subsequently won the election. In 1982, he sought the Democratic Party’s senatorial nomination, winning almost 76,000 votes in the Democratic Party primary.
In 1991, he was sentenced to six months in prison and 300 hours of community service by working with minorities, for “unlawful assembly” in association with a burning of a cross in 1983.
Leftist Wikipedia makes many unsourced and otherwise dubious allegations regarding Metzger and associated individuals and organizations.
White Aryan Resistance
In 1983, he founded “White Aryan Resistance” (WAR), claimed to reflect a more “revolutionary” stance, but that is incorporated as a business. The organization and associated individuals have made various controversy-generating statements. Unusually for a “far-right” organization, it was for at time allowed to have its own public-access cable television show and associated individuals were allowed to appear on numerous mainstream television shows, there making various controversy-generating statements. There have also been appearances on politically correct “documentaries” on White nationalism. Metzger participated in the 2003 documentary Louis and the Nazis, which alleged that Metzger was dubbed “the most dangerous racist in America”. Currently, that there is anything more than a website using the “White Aryan Resistance” name may be unclear.
SPLC lawsuit
White Aryan Resistance was bankrupted as the result of a civil lawsuit centered on its alleged involvement in the 1988 murder of Mulugeta Seraw, an Ethiopian, in Portland, Oregon. Several skinheads were convicted of killing Seraw and sent to prison. The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) filed a civil lawsuit, alleging that WAR influenced Seraw’s killers by encouraging their group “East Side White Pride” to commit violence. In 1990, Tom and John Metzger were found civilly liable under the doctrine of vicarious liability, in which one can be liable for a tort committed by a subordinate or other person taking instructions. The jury returned the largest civil verdict in Oregon history at the time—$12.5 million—against Metzger and WAR. Wikipedia claims that most of WAR’s profits go to paying off the judgment.
A 2003 book by a liberal Jewish writer investigating the case argued that the killing was due to a street fight rather than a premeditated, racially motivated attack that many assume it was. The involved skinheads initially denied that the killing was racially motivated. However, the prosecution consulted the SPLC and skinheads were given a plea bargain deal that included the stated admission of a racial motivation. This admission was then used by the SPLC in their lawsuit against Metzger. The star witness for the prosecution was Dave Mazzella who had contacts with both Metzger who did not live in Portland and with skinheads in Portland. However, the book argued that Mazzella had not moved to Portland to organize skinheads as alleged by the SPLC and actually had little influence among skinheads. A crucial meeting held just hours before the killing focused more on a desire for beer and girlfriends than the need to attack Blacks. The trial was mishandled because Metzger insisted on representing himself and there was no effective cross-examination of any of the SPLC’s witnesses.[1]
“Metzger chose to defend himself in court but wanted control over who heard his case. Before one pre-trial hearing, he told a court clerk he objected to being tried by the county’s chief judge, Donald H. Londer, saying his name sounded Jewish. When Londer, who was Jewish, heard about the comment, he asked Rosenthal and Metzger whether they objected to being heard by Judge Ancer L. Haggerty. Rosenthal had to stifle a laugh as Metzger — perhaps thinking Haggerty an Irishman — agreed to be tried by an African American judge.”[2]

I did indeed find the quote on being white quite fitting, though….and it’s not you that needs convincing. I am on your end of the scale of life. I also enjoy the ideas of the late Tom Metzger, among others. He was old-school but a real spit-in-your-eye kind of guy to his enemies. I doubt most of today’s younger crowd even heard of those old leaders in the movement. They, and I include you, had a lot of street wisdom. None of what has come before were what I consider “the ultimate white leader”. We haven’t seen that yet. Not even Hitler can claim that, though he’s surely the greatest so far. He’d never get off the ground now.
It’s 50x worse. A leader must have a people worthy of his leadership. Your race won’t even fund your website. It shouldn’t be on just a couple people’s back either.
Whatever. I’m just a poor, old redneck who grew up in a segregated world and sees the suck we are living in. I’m not saying these things like I’m lecturing you. I know you’ve had your place at what has gone on as well….and you’ve done your best. Lord knows, you could have had a richer life without the struggle of this. I’ve seen enough of YOU to know that. You are a bit of a rarity right now. A bridge between old and new. You know all these things…but many people who visit probably don’t.
I hate to hear of the website’s problem. It’s always pained me to see your constant struggle for funding what should be our common fight. I saw the same pressures on you a decade ago. It never ends. Mathews had real leadership skills, and was inspiring, ….
but in a sergeant sort of way, not an officer. He was just not bright and educated enough. And, not to bash a real hero who gave his life and went out in a blaze (a literal blaze!) of glory, but dropping that pistol (which no trained infantryman would ever do — your weapon is your best and only friend when the SHTF!) was a disastrous error. I am sure Bob reproached himself forever for that.
Did you know the FBI under the jews’ bootlicker Ronald Reagan assigned SIX HUNDRED FBI agents to get these guys?

Sorry to hear that Metzger died last November. I heard him speak on the radio in the mid ’80s, when he was just getting started in his political career.
I was living in a camper at a beach north of Santa Cruz, CA, and I heard him on the radio as I was driving into town. That was my first encounter with White Nationalism.
Actually, he won the Democrat nomination for Congress in the San Diego area in 1980.
Great fighter, and my shows with him are worth a good listen.
John, did you ever go to any of Bob Miles’ gatherings in Cohoctah, Michigan? I met Tom Metzger there. We didn’t really hit it off, but he was a no-nonsense guy and didn’t play the White Nationalist back-biting game.
That is a good question.
I had actually only heard of Metzger and Miles at that stage, and had only been to Michigan for estate/trust matters for Willis Carto.
They say Miles was avuncular, charming, very intelligent and charismatic.
I had no use for his Christian Identity, but the motivation behind it was AAA.
You are right that Metzger was not into WN fratricide. I had heard that he had broken sharply with Duke, in the late 1970s, as I did in 2011, but when I talked with him in 2013, he had no desire to go into it.
I honor both these men.
It was damn hard going back then.
Today, by contrast, many Whites finally “get” us.
I see men all over this town look at me, expectantly. Some blond guy in his late forties biked past me the other day and greeted me by my first name, saying “Hi, John!” I have no idea who he was, but people seem to know who I am.
And by getting donations, I have been able to go to the diners and the taverns, and the ever-busy hardware store, and chat with the locals.
This is really the folk here. Regular white people with a work ethic, and sick in their heart about what is going on.
And Lake Superior and the blond people up here – it is mystical and somehow like Hyperborea. Great place for something holy to happen. 😉
I remember an Instauration column of the ’90s that was mentioned an accusation by Metzger that David Duke was a cocaine addict.
Now that you bring it up, he did say that to me and worse……
He also said: “The Dukies love their ‘Dr. Duke’ and there is nothing you can tell them.”
