The $ 20 bill would have been the first featuring a black woman’s portrait. US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has now stopped the project. President Trump had previously ridiculed the planned change.

The U.S. government has delayed the release of new $ 20 bills in honor of slavery opponent Harriet Tubman by almost a decade. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Wednesday. He did not want to state the reason for the postponement, but only spoke generally about the need to protect banknotes more securely against counterfeiting.
