This is nothing compared to flights pre 9/11 and in the 90s when people could still smoke on planes. I was on a flight to spring break in Mexico in the early 90s and half the incidents in this article happened. Nearly everyone on the plane was binge drinking, and the kids sitting behind me lit up a joint. The flight attendants were too busy selling drinks to notice or care. Lol

You are simply lying when you declare that behavior like nudity was common on planes before we imported the Third World.

    • YesComment

No, we need to deport the millions we have brought in who don’t belong there. Then things will get back to normal fast.

    • YesComment

Import the Third World, become the Third World.

  • norunnyeggs

I fly every week. It is appalling what you see at an airport in respect to the behavior of people. Combine that with the outrageous way we are treated by TSA and the airlines and it has become a disaster.

    • driven1xLeader

The creation of TSA may have been the single worst thing ever done by our government to airline travel.

  • EdLoweryLeader

With pet deaths, apparently, United isn’t even the worst. Between May 2005 through December 2009, according to the DOT, Continental led the pack with 58 deaths, Delta (including now merged Northwest) with 43, Alaska Airlines at 36, American Airlines at 33, and United at 17.

WillieWonderingToo

Yep, a lot of people who think they’re rock stars and entitled to behave as they please and do anything they want. I work in the service industry and see it all the time. Pack them into a confined area and you’re going to have even more problems.

    • YesComment

WillieWonderingToo

No, most of the new incidents involve immigrants and other minorities. It’s not young whites doing most of these. This is a case of import the Third World, become the Third World.

  • jimmini

Everyone is self entitled, there is no God for them, and these are the beginnings of sorrows for the rest of us.. People are reverting to animal behavior, self righteous, no standards.. and then there are demons…

Flying today is like a trip to Walmarts !

  • LMorror176Influencer

Greed on the part of airlines is definitely to blame. But remember, ours is the society of “me”. Thirty years of scorn for concepts of “right” and “wrong” and the belief that you can do anything you want are taking their toll. No society will continue without a strong sense of the value of respect for others. There is no society when people believe no one but themselves matters.

I am not joking. Men really wore suits and women beautiful dresses and hats. The food was pretty good, actually.

We imported millions from the Third World, who don’t share our values (including blacks, who have more money now but never Westernized). Expect more and more incidents like this.

This behavior is in a large part due to liberals. They have ruined society and anything goes

  • PeakSarcasmLeader

Its not just in airplanes. Have you been to Walmart ? Progressives do not want any judgment, law enforcement or public shaming. So you are now free to act like animals.

I hate flying and now travel by car for all vacations. There was once a time when air travel was enjoyable. Now my daughter was stripped searched my wife patted down, Then plane is always late or over booked.

And where did the moral relativism come from? It didn’t come from historic Americans. It came from Jews and other Third Worlders whom we have imported over the past century.

It has become worse that the Greyhound Bus used to be. I just flew PSP to DFW on Frontier, what a hassle. Tiny seats that do NOT recline and it is so tight I dropped my glasses on the floor and could not reach them until we deplaned! The entire trip a kid behind me kept kicking the seat and slamming the metal tray table against my seat, The mother had 2 kids and they were terrors, I started to get mad then I looked at her face and just felt sorry for her. I am going to drive from now on.

  • CrashingBoulderLeader

After a great deal of in depth study and focused contemplation, I have narrowed this entire vexing situation down to two possible causes – and two alone: The decline of Western Civilization or allowing Black people to fly on commercial aircraft.

    • CarlingBlackLabelBeerLeader

CrashingBoulder

The two go hand in hand

It is the travelers mostly, i flew over 10,000 flights during my 40+ years of employment. I never once saw a fight, anyone pulled off of a flight, fight over bin space. We had something that is no longer, RESPECT for others. I haven’t boarded a plane in last 5 years, and never intend to again. I would rather drive and enjoy the sights I always saw from 35,000 feet, and I don’t have to be subjected to all this nonsense happening now.

  • ThatsHowItIsLeader

Standards have lowered, more “attention Walmart Shoppers” are flying due to lower fares Airlines are already spinning that complaints are down – that is because of the lower standards

  • JBrickleyLeader

Lowered the bar to push more ‘cattle’ down the line and now you have riff-raff issues. Duh… It used to be very expensive to fly. It’s so cheap you have the people who used to take a bus taking a plane. The airlines have to fill flights and have more of them to make any money. Delayed flights, missed connections, bars in airports over serving patrons results in drunk passengers. Add into all that the crazy insane security measures and everyone gets really annoyed before they even board the plane.

Now you have adults acting like children dressed in PJ’s, yoga pants, bringing pillows and taking their shoes off. Used to be people dressed to go out. You wouldn’t be caught dead not dressing to be in public. Everyone is self-serving and entitled and have a big mouth. There are few Ladies and Gentleman left in society. Cultural rot. Overall, most flights are trouble-free but now the media is focused on any story about anything that happens on a plane so we all get to see more and more stories. The number of incidents hasn’t gone up just the reporting on them. One wonders if the media moguls short-stocks when they report bad news on corporations? Maybe they should change the laws to make that insider trading. An Israeli Security company no one has heard of is making outlandish claims of security problems with AMD CPU’s and the people behind the company are known stock manipulators.

The black man screamed white privilege just because some woman put her feet on her own tray table ? The article never said the tray wasn’t hers. Blacks scream racism at the drop of a hat, and they will drop the hat.

The erosion of air travel……simply stand in any US airport and watch the college snowflakes walk through the AP wearing PJs & carrying pillows while they slurp down their Star Bucks complaining about their L O N G one hour flight

I was fortunate enough to have 6 years of Spanish…4 in high school and 2 in college. Recently, was seated next to 2 hispanic women who spoke rapidly to one another the entire trip. Their language was foul and the comments they made about me and other American passengers were derogatory to say the least. I stayed silent and read the entire time. When we landed and were leaving, I turned to them and told them off in Spanish. The look on their faces was priceless. Some good advice to anyone going anywhere….assume nothing and when in Rome, do as the Romans do.

  • norepliesLeader

“Despite recent headlines, however, complaints against the airline were down in 2017 from 2016.” Because our sense of normalcy is lower.

  • frankvinsonLeader

I will tell you what is going on. Airlines have made prices so cheap that anyone can fly so all the dregs of the earth that used to use Greyhound and Trailways now fly. Think about that

How many billions of passengers fly every year? These incidents are simply being reported as news because they take place on an airplane. I bet the exact same things happen every day in public but they aren’t news because you can just walk away. Snice flying is no longer special people don’t treat it as a situation in which they should be on their best behavior. Ccultural rot.

Air travel became the Greyhound of the skies a long time ago….decent air travel now requires chartering a jet…otherwise, you get this. And you thought the income disparity was only in income?

All of this has more to do with societal decline than the airlines themselves. We are becoming a collection of self-absorbed savages who have been taught that we are more important than others.

When air travel changed from being a luxury to a commodity so too did it patronage. The same riffraff one encounters in the NYC subways is now found in the skies, along with a like quality of staff which, somewhat to their defense, has been conditioned by their day-in/day-out dealings with these fine folks

    • 1rightwingrobertLeader

Totally agree, but I would compare it to bus travel.

I have not flown since 1998, and don’t remember ANY crazy passengers on planes ever. Civility ruled, including “shut your kid up”. Never did I ever see a psycho allowed to board a plane. Did see a couple, over the years, who were prevented from boarding. What on earth has happened to good behavior and parental common sense, and preventing loons from boarding planes. Not to mention smelly people from the ME? Glad I haven’t flown since 1998.

  • Joletto686Leader

As long as they keep serving alcohol in airports and on the plane, and as long as they let already-drunk people on planes, this kind of stuff will continue to happen. Duh!

  • taffyappleLeader

That’s because so many, are mentally imbalanced these days, and shouldn’t be flying.

Outfit the planes with electric seats and strap them in…if they get out of hand, just zap them; much like a taser.

Select your seat when you book a flight, pay $85 for a year of TSA Pre-Check to avoid the security line hassles, and don’t buy the $49 superdupersaver ticket.

  • Stratusrunner

I work in the airline industry. Respect for the authority of the flight crew and Federal regulations has flown out the window. Last year when the police accidentally injured a non-compliant passenger the news media turned it into the big corporation vs. the little guy. The passenger should have spent time in jail rather than getting a fat settlement. As a result I have had more unruly passenger incidents in the last year than in the my previous 38 years put together. Blame the media. Until the media starts putting the blame where it belongs and people go to jail for breaking the law, this behavior will continue.

  • SM1963Leader

The agitated passenger was reportedly yelling things like “I want to die! Get me off this plane!” She then started screaming “I am God, I am God, I am God, I am God!” as she tried to open the cabin door. Hillary was restrained with zip ties until the plane landed.

  • TallFescue6903Influencer

Air travel is pretty much an ordeal these days. But, the airlines have the market cornered…and they know it. As far as the average air traveler goes…it’s a jungle out there. Probably a reflection of our society in general I’d say. Airplanes these days are truly…The Pit of Misery. Dilly Dilly.

  • Counselor1607Leader

What’s going on with airline travel? Globalization! The uncivilized ill-cultured 3rd World people have money & they are traveling in much larger numbers. They have deteriorated “cultural climate” which is more dangerous to humanity than Liberal claim of deteriorating “environmental climate”.
