I worked for Pierce 1981-84. I resigned, despite my great respect for Pierce, because I rejected his materialism, darwinism and atheism, understanding  that, as Hitler said,  no Aryan religion can work without gods and a literal afterlife. But Pierce was a scientist and a hard-core skeptic by nature, and all this was also decades before the facts about life after death and reincarnation had come out.
